Minecraft ARG, this one http://www.southerncrossgaming.org/boards/index.php?topic=680.0
Rowdy here to break down the ARG details for you to anyone that was confused or might of missed out, also some general fun facts.

Q: What was the ARG?
A: The Arg was a little thing I set up before October as an experiment to see how I could get people to work together, as well as bring some awareness to the forums!
Q: Who was in charge of it?
A: Me, the entire time.
Q: What about the writers you asked for?
A: Well since this proved to be a success and fun, we'll totally be doing more in the future. The reason I asked for writers was indeed to work on something like this, seeing as I have no writing skills. However I had a really hard time trying to explain what I wanted to the people that I talked to so I said fuck it and wrote my own. I'll be using this as an example to give to people now.

The Story
So the gist of the story is this, the land (The overworld) is run by gods (admins) , who every few thousand years (Think about how short MC days are over the timespan of the months we've had Minecraft servers.) step down as god and a new one takes over. (This part actually is true, there hasn't been a totally stable Minecraft server in SCG till I took over. The first 3 MC servers were hosted by other people, not me.)
The back story of this is that the previous gods wanted to destroy the land that Rowdy (Me) had moved to a new universe (Server host). But they had very limited power to do so (Not admins?) So they used players to do the major work. Which ultimately led to a choice between whoever actually made it to the end first if they wanted to save or end the land. They chose save, good on ya guys.
That part was mostly a "Well I wonder what would happen if..." scenario.

Fun Facts
As mentioned above, a lot of the story was based off of real life events, so the backstory to the server as far as RPG stuff goes is actually pretty darn accurate.
The dome wasn't supposed to happen! The final area was originally the blown up room above the catacombs. Underneath my home was an actually working admin room. Various buttons had commands and such bound to them. The reason for this is we've had issues with getting into our host a while ago, and if we needed to restart the server and I wasn't around, there was a way to do so.
Someone found it before they were supposed to and told me not knowing what it was for, so I blew it up. I switched it with the beacon stuff last minute as we had finally gotten 1.4.
In the story, I wrote out an implication that the Tekkit server was the same world as the Vanilla server, just years ahead. While they look nothing alike spawn wise, this is actually the exact opposite. Both servers are running off of the same seed, but when the Vanilla server was made, it was made using a different version of Minecraft / Bukkit than Tekkit, causing it to appear different. And since Tekkit was carried over from the old host and Vanilla server was regenned again on the new host, Vanilla is actually the more current server.
A shit ton of the quests were made up on the spot, I don't do planning well.
The idea was originally that the ARG would take place between every SCG server, but the Tf2 crowd didn't understand the first clue while the MC crowd figured it out first.
