Discussion: A note about low server activity and what I'm doing to fix it! posted in Archives

I've come today with a lesser excitable message to share, and it is regarding the recent slew of low server population / activity and what we're doing about it.

It's not really a secret that things are kind of quiet currently. Reason being as there are a lot of games overshadowing Team Fortress 2 right now, I see everyone playing Guild Wars 2, Borderlands 2 and Torchwood 2 just came out as well. Among another reason is that college has recently started and a lot of those without laptops or free time are quiet on the home front.

So what am I doing to help the situation? For starters...

Okay so
[9/20/2012 5:50:43 PM] Rowdy: I had a small idea today to handle low population
[9/20/2012 5:50:55 PM] Rowdy: It's only on rainbow for now so I'm gonna wait to see if it fucks up
[9/20/2012 5:51:01 PM] Rowdy: I'll put it on the others tonight
[9/20/2012 5:51:03 PM] Rowdy: long story short
[9/20/2012 5:51:18 PM | Edited 5:51:23 PM] Rowdy: Player based command execution
[9/20/2012 5:52:20 PM] Rowdy: If there are less than 6 players, respawn times get moved, RTD gets turned on, and there are NO afk limits. Meaning you can join the empty server, and wait as long as it takes for others to show up
[9/20/2012 5:52:43 PM] Rowdy: after 6 people join, respawn times go back on, rtd is off, and the idle kicker goes back to 3 minutes.
[9/20/2012 5:53:00 PM] Rowdy: This way, people can help build up an empty server while they wait for a bigger game.
[9/20/2012 5:55:16 PM] Rowdy: All it takes is a few people to get one going, and this way, they can sit in and wait and go do ther stuff

What else? I'm preparing the forums for a some new things.

The game plan right now is to get some activity flowing to the forums, we need to start having a community in this community. >:C

Next up, I'm trying to square off some more free time as to run more group events. Hopefully motivate others to help do so as well.

And sadly, Vanilla and one of the Gmod servers will be taken down for the time being. We cannot justify keeping them up when we can't get anyone to use them. Which gmod server? Consider both of them, as the existing one will be used to practice event hosting!

That is all for now, as always, contact me with any questions you might have!
