Discussion: Iconomy + Chestshop Mod Tutorial! posted in Archives

During the reset a couple of mods were added into the mix to introduce an economy!  These two mods are Iconomy and Chestshop.  This thread will serve as a tutorial for anyone who wants to take advantage of these mods!  The basic gist of the two mods is that Iconomy provides 'bank' balances for every player and Chestshop plugs into those balances as well allows anyone to make shops.

Creating Your Own shop!

Items Required: Chest, Sign, Item you wish to sell.

Creating a shop is rather simple after you do it once.  Just follow this step by step tutorial and it will work!

First place your chest on the ground and then place your sign anywhere that is directly adjacent to the chest.  Some of the possible positions are shown below!

Now you have to fill out the 4 lines on the sign very carefully.

First line: Leave this line blank, the mod will automatically fill your name in this space.

Second Line: Any number.  This line declares how many of the item are you selling or buying at once.  1 will be one item, 64 will be a full stack but you can go above 64 such as 100 or more :)  To summarize, putting a 32 here means that your customer will either buy or sell 32 of the item the shop is programmed to deal in.

Third line: This is the tricky one.  Here is where you put your prices.  Putting a B next to any number sets the price that your customer has to pay to you to buy what you are selling.  Putting an S next to any number means that your customer will receive that amount from you if they sell to your shop.  If you do not put down both a B and an S then whichever one you do not put down the shop will not do.  If you neglect the S then your shop will not allow people to sell to it.  Most importantly, if you put both B and S down, the two must be separated by a colon (:).  An example is "B 50:25 S" which means your customer can buy from your shop at 50 dollars or they can sell to your shop and get 25 dollars.

Fourth Line: [ITEM ID or NAME]  This is where you put down what item exactly your shop is dealing.  You can put either the numerical item ID or its name.  I would recommend using the numerical ID because there are some names that belong to more than one item such as Melon (it belongs to both melon blocks and melon slices).  If you used the item ID it will be replaced by the item name as soon as you hit done! :)  Here is a list of all the items and their ID numbers. MAKE SURE you use the Dec numbers and not the Hex numbers.  Ignore the second column of numbers and use only the first! http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Data_values

And you are done!  Every time someone uses your shop while you are on the server you will receive a notice!

First make sure you read and understand the sign!

RIGHT CLICK the sign to BUY FROM the store.
LEFT CLICK the sign to SELL TO the store.

Admin Shops

Admin Shops do not require a chest.  Any items you buy from an Admin Shop are created magically (cause aliens) and any items you sell to an Admin Shop are deleted.  I will for sure create some admin shops in the main city and this is a good way to earn money by selling to these shops.  Planned shops right now include Cobblestone and Diamonds.  More shops will likely be created as the server's economy starts to take shape and I can decide on better prices for those items.
