http://www.mojang.com/2012/02/14/new-minecraft-map-format-anvil/ Not only will everything be higher and more efficient, but the biomes will be saved differently so it can be edited by tools! Which means that next time we need to add a biome there wont be a swiss cheese even I hope :P there is a lot more in the lnik but im lazy and figured id share this now :D
